Gedung Arsip Nasional: The Remaining Slave Bell is Here

Gedung-Arsip-NasionalMuseum Arsip Nasional or the National Archives Museum is located at Jl. Gajah Mada No 111, Jakarta Barat/West Jakarta, was originally the home of the former Governor-General of VOC, Reiner de Klerk, that is built in the 18th century. Governor General de Klerk is also the founder of Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen. Department of Mines of the Dutch Indies government also occupied this building until 1925. After that, the building was used as Lands Archief (“land records”), which after Indonesia’s Independence became a national archives building.

This building was restored by a group of Dutch businessmen who founded the Stichting Cadeau Indonesia (“Indonesia Foundation prize”) and the Foundation made an effort to do fund raising to restore this builing and turn it into a museum as a gift for 50 year Indonesian Independence

National Archives Museum has a large garden at the front and rear of the main house. In the back garden you can see two ancient cannons and a replica of the bell. In the museum, you are not allowed to take pictures from the museum collection, but you can take pictures of this magnificient building in his time. To go up to the 2nd floor in the main building, you must be accompanied by the Museum officers. The museum is also one of the interesting places that are widely used for pre-wedding photo shoot

From Juanda/Gondangdia/Cikini go to platform 1 and take the Red Line/Blue Line heading to Jakarta Kota Station then stop at Mangga Besar Station and take a 19 minutes walk to the West

From Sudirman go to platform 2 and take the Yellow Line heading to to Depok/Bogor then transit at Manggarai Station. Go to platform 3/5 and take the Red Line/Blue Line heading to Jakarta Kota Station then stop at Mangga Besar Station and take a 19 minutes walk to the West
