Government to Build Express Railways from Halim Perdanakusumah to SHIA

Hanggoro Budi Wiryawan, Director of Traffic and Railways of the Ministry of Transportation, said the government will soon to implement the auction phase of the construction of the Express Train Railways service from Halim Perdanakusumah Airport – Soekarno Hatta International Airport. The pre-qualification tender will be conducted around April.

Construction of the express train railways is targeted to be completed in the next 3-4 years. Some of the railways will be built underground and some of it will be elevated railways

The construction of the railways towards SHIA from Halim Perdanakusumah Airport is a change from the original plan of express train railways from Manggarai to SHIA. Airport train route constructed with the public private partnership (PPP) scheme started from Halim as origin departure, Cawang, Manggarai, Tanah Abang, Sudirman, Pluit to Terminal 2 and 3 of the Soekarno Hatta International Airport. These have been set by the Minister of Transportation through Ministerial Regulation No. 1264 of 2013 issued in December 2013.

The central government claims the airport project connecting these two Airports have a lot of the attention of foreign investors. In addition to China, the express train railways are also attracted investors from the United States, Korea, and the United Kingdom.

With this express train service, the journey from Halim Perdanakusumah Airport to SHIA can be taken approximately 30 minutes along 33.8 km.
