Jalan Jaksa: A Paradise Place for Budget Traveler

If Bangkok had the Khao San Road, Bali has Kuta, and Jakarta certainly have the Jalan Jaksa. The position of the Jalan Jaksa located in the heart of the Jakarta, close to the Sarinah shopping center and near the Gondangdia station make this place as a good spot for foreign tourists with a low budget.

The History of Jalan Jaksa begins when Batavia had its first Law School (Rechts Hogeschool). The student of the Rechts Hogeschool rent rooms in Jalan Jaksa, when they try to complete their study. Since then, the road was popularly known as Jalan Jaksa. However, the history of the Jalan Jaksa in tourism industry actually begins in 1968, when Nathanael Lawalata transform his house into a guesthouse; Wisma Delima.

Wisma Delima is the first hotel to operate at Jl. Jaksa and the only hotel in Jakarta listed in the International Youth Hostel Federation. This road had been developed with a lot of hostels and also recorded in a variety of popular travel guide books such as Lonely Planet.

To find a cheap accommodation, this is the right place, because by walking 10 to 15 minutes, then you may find a few places that provide rooms for budget traveller.

From Juanda go to platform 2 and take the Blue Line/Red Line heading to Manggarai the stop at Gondangdia Station and take a 7 minutes walk to the West

From Cikini go to platform 1 and take the Blue Line/Red Line heading to Jakarta Kota then stop at Gondangdia Station and take a 7 minutes walk to the West

From Tanah Abang go to platform 3/5 and take Yellow Line heading to Manggarai and change to platform 3 and take the Blue Line/Red Line heading to Jakarta Kota then stop at Gondangdia Station and take a 7 minutes walk to the West

From Sudirman go to platform 2 and take the Yellow Line heading to Manggarai and change to platform 3 and take the Blue Line/Red Line heading to Jakarta Kota then stop at Gondangdia Station and take a 7 minutes walk to the West
