June 2014, The Inter City Trains will Enter Jakarta before 6 AM

In order to provide maximum service to the Commuter Line users, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is planning to change the graphics train trip (Gapeka) for long-distance train which come in and come out of Jakarta.

According to the plan, by June 2014, all intercity train can no longer operate above 6:00 am. So the Commuter Line trip will not be interrupted by the intercity train trip said Sugeng Priyono, Head of Public Relations of PT KAI, on Thursday (04/17/2014). But the Gapeka change schedule for intercity train will only be applied in the morning schedule

PT KAI claim that the Gapeka change is aim to achieve more frequent headway of Commuter Line, especially to cope with passenger density in the morning. Since the people leave for work in the morning and they can’t be too late. And for afternoon schedule will not change much, because in the evening people just go back to home.

Previously, Tri Handoyo, President Director of PT KAI Commuter President Jabodetabek (KCJ), is admitted that many problems that occur in Commuter Line including signal interference and headway. Both problems are occurred for the signal tools are already old and the railways are use by Commuter Line and also the intercity train services.

Talking about the railways, Tri said, the commuter line railways should be separate from the railways used by the intercity trains. Commuter train requires different settings from intercity train because time is very short and it should not be distracted by intercity trains other cars.

Therefore, he welcomed the double -track development plan from Bekasi to Manggarai. Since the Commuter Line services are often interrupted by the intercity train heading to West Java, Central Java, and East Java, since both train is used the same railways. With the railways development, the commuter line and the intercity train will user separate railways and do not disturb each other
