Every 5th of the fifth month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar, the Chinese community in Tangerang is celebrate the Peh Cun. Peh cun derives from the word Pe liong cun, which means rowing the dragon boat. Pecun celebration is extended from Chinese ancestral tradition for generations that were initially put in place to remember the death of a great general named Qu Yuan from the Chu state (339-278 BC).
The General is had done many thing to advance his country. Regrettably, one of the royal family members not be pleased with him, and eventually expelled the general from Chu state. The General was sad and worried about the future of his country, and he decided to end his life by jumping into the river. Chu people are sad then try to find the General bodies in the river.
They threw rice and other food into the river in order to ensure that fish and other animals do not interfere with the General body. The food is also packed with foliation, which we now call bakcang, to make dragon in the river do not even bother the General body. The Legend of the fishermen who loyally find the General body with their boat eventually become a tradition and became a start for the dragon boat race held every year.
To commemorate this legend, the Boen Tek Bio Vihara managers will prepare Peh Cun festival in the Cisadane Festival celebration. Peh Cun celebration will be called on 12-16 June 2013 at the Cisadane river behind the Vihara Boen Tek Bio, Jl. Kalipasir Indah, Tangerang
In the Peh Cun, there will be the procession at the monastery, the dragon boat race, competition to make the biggest bak cang, competition on bak cang binding, decorated boat contest and other competitions.
There will be exhibitions of products and culinary of the Chinese Benteng. Peh Cun celebration will be highlighted with traditional cultural art form of stage Liong, Lion Dance, xylophone, and others. In addition there will be floating stage in the River of Cisadane as an art show.

Go to platform 2/5 and take the Yellow Line heading to Jatinegara and stop at Duri Station. Go to platform 3/4 heading to Tangerang and take 6 minute walks to southwest
