Museum Taman Prasasti or Museum of Inscriptions Park is located at Jl. Tanah Abang I No 1, Jakarta Pusat/Central Jakarta, or just in front of Central Jakarta Mayor Office. This museum was a former funeral 5,5 Ha Kebon Jahe Kober built in 1795 to replace another cemetery beside the church Hollandsche Nieuw Kerk (now the Museum Wayang). It is said that two centuries ago, the dead bodies from Jakarta Kota was taken by canoe through Krukut river to Kebon Jahe Kober (now Museum Taman Prasasti). The sound of bells made of bronze will be sounded as signifying that there will be bodies buried. Clank first proclaimed the death. Clank pounding signifies the arrival of the bodies and will continue to be tolled until the body arrives at the gate of the cemetery.

In 1975, while the Jakarta Governor was Ali Sadikin, Jakarta Provincial Government decided to close the cemetry and move the bodies were buried to the Menteng Pulo cemetery. Most of the bones buried here moved to the Netherlands by their family and some are cremated. Meanwhile, the tombstones of the cemetery is still maintained and reorganized. About 1,200 of the 5000 tombstone of a being part of the Museum Taman Prasasti.

Museum which opened to the public on July 9, 1977 is an attractive place for visitors to take pictures, because it’s so diverse antique and gravestone inscriptions are available at this location. Museum Taman Prasasti open from 9-15 every day with the admission price of Rp 2000. For commercial activities such as pre wedding photos, taking pictures for models, or making a yearbook, based on information obtained, you have to pay Rp. 350.000 for 20 people and if the activity requires the locker room will be charged an additional tariff of Rp. 100.000

From Gondangdia /Cikini go to platform 1 and  take Red Line or Blue Line heading to Jakarta Kota and stop at Juanda. Take a 11 minutes walk to the East

From Tanah Abang go to platform 3 and take the Yellow Line heading to Depok/Nambo/Bogor and stop at Manggarai. Go to platform 3/5 and  take Red Line or Blue Line heading to Jakarta Kota and stop at Juanda. Take a 11 minutes walk to the East. Take a 24 minutes walk to the Southwest

From Sudirman go to platform 2 and take the Yellow Line heading to Depok/Nambo/Bogor and stop at Manggarai. Go to platform 3/5 and  take Red Line or Blue Line heading to Jakarta Kota and stop at Juanda. Take a 11 minutes walk to the East. Take a 24 minutes walk to the Southwest
