Taman Suropati or Suropati Park (originally named Burgemeester Bisschopplein) is the name of the park situated between three major roads namely Jl. Teuku Umar, Jl. Diponegoro, and Jl. Imam Bonjol, Menteng, Jakarta Pusat/Central Jakarta. Initially the park name is taken from the name of the first Mayor (Burgemeester) of Batavia (now Jakarta), GJ Bisshop (1916-1920). Later, after independence, the park changed its name, taking the name of national hero Untung Suropati.
Now Suropati Park looks more artsy with 6 statue that symbolizes the form ‘Spirit of ASEAN’. Suropati Park has a rounded Jogging Track surrounded by large shady trees. The park also has 2 Fountains, located at the the right and left of the park. In this park you will find the pigeon house, the pigeons will fly towards you if you provide a little food for them. This place is very strategic because it is located right in center of Jakarta. The park is very appropriate to be used for family gathering, jogging in the morning or afternoon, or even dating.
