This house is replicas of the Callenberg Palace in Germany and located at Jl. Raden Saleh No 40 Cikini, Central Jakarta. It is known as the the home of the famous Indonesian painter, Raden Saleh (Huis van Raden Saleh). The building is located at PGI Cikini Hospital and now the building serves as an office of the Head of PGI Cikini Hospital. After studying for 10 years in the Netherlands, Raden Saleh went to visit Germany. In Germany, he was interested with the Callenberg Palace. Until 1945, the palace was the summer residence of the Dukes of Coburg, which is part of the Dynasty of Saxe-Coburg and Saxe-Gotha, one of the influential dynasties in Europe. When he was returned to Indonesia, Raden Saleh built a residence with duplicating the Callenberg Palace. In addition to building of his house, he also built Cikini Zoo (now the Taman Ismail Marzuki). A traveler from the United States, Albert S Bichmore, reported,” There is no native rulers throughout the archipelago which has a castle as powerful as Raden Saleh. Since this building is a hospital office, you can not take picture inside the building without permission.
