Kementerian Pertahanan: The Building was used as Rechts-Hogeschool of Batavia


Kementerian Pertahanan or Ministry of Defence building is located on Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat No. 13-14, Jakarta Pusat/Central Jakarta. The house is located right next to the National Museum. At the time of the Dutch East Indies government, this building is the Law School Building (Rechts Hogeschool), established by the Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies Besluit No. 1 dated October 9, 1924, which was subsequently confirmed by Stadblad 457 No. 1924 dated October 28, 1924. The building physically constructed in 1927 and completed in 1929 with the European architectural style and spacious 4234 square feet overall.

During the Japanese occupation in 1942-1945 the building was used as a headquarters Kempeitai (Japanese secret police) and used as a trial for the officer or soldier PETA that launched rebellion, especially in 1944.

At the time of independence on 17 August 1945, the Law School building is under the control of the Ministry of Education and Culture. When the Government of Indonesia in Yogyakarta back to Jakarta. This building later became the building of the Ministry of Defence.

From Tanah Abang go to platform 3 and take the Yellow Line heading to Depok/Nambo/Bogor and stop at Manggarai. Go to platform 3/5 and  take Red Line or Blue Line heading to Jakarta Kota and stop at Juanda. Take a 26 minutes walk to the Southwest

From Sudirman go to platform 2 and take the Yellow Line heading to Depok/Nambo/Bogor and stop at Manggarai. Go to platform 3/5 and  take Red Line or Blue Line heading to Jakarta Kota and stop at Juanda. Take a 26 minutes walk to the Southwest
