Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusumo or Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital is located on Jl. Diponegoro No 71 Jakarta Pusat/Central Jakarta. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital built on 19 November 1919 when the Dutch East Indies colonial government establishing CBZ (Centrale Burgelijke Ziekenhuis) means the Central People’s Hospital. CBZ as it serves as a hospital, practice, and student lab of STOVIA. At the time of the Japanese occupation, CBZ used as college hospital (Ika Daigaku Byongin).
CBZ name is still used by people in Jakarta until 1970 although in 1945 the hospital’s name was changed to Public State Hospital or ‘Rumah Sakit Oemoem Negeri’ (RSON) and in 1950 became General Hospital Center or Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat (RSUP). On August 17, 1964, the Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Satrio inaugurates the RSUP become Tjipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSTM), which is now, because the change in the spelling changed to RSCM.
RSCM is a referral hospital for the common people. Many families of patient prefer to stay in the waiting room at the hospital. To get better health care in the early 1970’an, Cendrawasih Pavilion is built in serving patients in a same level as in private hospitals.
