Istana Negara or the State Palace is located on Jl Veteran, Jakarta Pusat/Central Jakarta, The construction of the palace was begun in 1796 and completed in 1804. The building was originally a mansion outside the city-owned by the Dutch businessman, JA van Braam. In 1820 van Braam vacation home is rented and purchased in 1821 by the Dutch East Indies government. Houses van Braam was chosen because the Daendels Palace at Banteng Square unfinished. But after the palace was completed Daendels Palace only used for government offices.

The official name was used by the Dutch government is the Hotel van den Gouverneur Generaal. The palace was used as the residence of the Governor-General if the Governor General needs to stay at Batavia primarily to attend the Indies Council meeting. The building was known by Batavia residence as the Rijswijk Palace.

Initially this ancient Greek style architecture building has two levels, but in 1848 the upper part dismantled, and the front of the lower floor is made larger to give the official impression. Shape of the building is the result of changes in 1848 survived until now, without any significant change.

Many important events are happening at the State Palace. Among of them are when General de Kock outlines its plan to the Governor-General Baron van der Capellen to suppress the rebellion of Prince Diponegoro and formulate its strategy to fights against the Tuanku Imam Bonjol. The palace is also the witness when the Governor-General Johannes van den Bosch establish cultivation system or Cultuur stelsel. After independence, at March 25, 1947, The palace became the place when the Linggarjati Agreement was signed by Sutan Sjahrir and Dr. Van Mook.

State Palace serves as the center of state government, including being the venue for the state events, such as the inauguration of the state officials, opening discussion, and national meeting, the opening of the national and the international congresses, and a state banquet.

From Sudirman go to platform 2 and take the Yellow Line heading to Depok/Nambo/Bogor and stop at Manggarai. Go to platform 3/5 and  take Red Line or Blue Line heading to Jakarta Kota and stop at Juanda. Take a 12 minutes walk to the West
