Explore the beauty of the National Monument with Delman


If you visit the National Monument or Medan Merdeka Square, you will undoubtedly encounter the traditional two/four-wheeled horse drawn vehicle. Delman name itself comes from the name of its inventor; Charles Theodore Deeleman, an engineer in the Dutch East Indies era. The Dutch themselves call this vehicle as dos-à-dos and in the Betawi language became sado. There are many terms for Delman in Indonesia; such as Andong, Dokar, or Ebro (from Eerste Bataviasche Rijtuig Onderneming) or The First Railway Company in Jakarta.

You can enjoy a delman ride tour around the National Monument. Please remember that Delman is only operates on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. Delman will go around Jl. Medan Merdeka starting from the south side before Jakarta City Hall and ends at the same place. For 10 minutes, for a one-way trip, you will be charged Rp. 25,000/Delman.
