During 2012 there are various legal events in Indonesia that e should be an evaluation for improvement and optimization of the law reform law agenda in 2013. There is a strong will to reform the law but on the other hand the intention and desire is not able to be implemented optimally. Many issues are not resolved properly and the result is the law reform goes very slow.
In law enforcement issue, the Indonesian Legal Forum (Forum Hukum Indonesia) take a note that there are still rampant judicial mafia practices involving various elements, ranging from lawyers, police, prosecutors, judges, either directly or through a case broker. A lot of momentum for improvement that emerged over 2012, but the momentum is often just disappear due to lack of political will of the leadership of each of law enforcement agency to carry out comprehensive measures to eradicate this judicial mafia practices.
In judiciary, the judicial reforms that run inside the Supreme Court, although it has been going on but still running slow. Justice system should be held to the principle of rapid, simple and low cost still has not been done. The practices of mafia that work along the judicial process still need to be addressed. The court ruling still can not restore the public confidence on the improvement of judicial refom. Acceleration and optimization of justice reform should be the main task of the Supreme Court in 2013.
For those reasons, the Indonesian Legal Forum (Forum Hukum Indonesia) held a public discussion with the theme “Towards a Clean and Accountable Justice System”, on January 23, 2012, at 14-16 in Phoenam Cafe, Jl. Abdullah Syafi’ie Kav. 4, Terusan Casablanca, South Jakarta. Speakers in these discussions are Prof. Dr. T. Gayus Lumbuun, (Supreme Justice of the Supreme Court), Taufik Basari, SH, Shum, LLM (Advocate), Arsil (Deputy Director of LeIP)
