Jakarta government is start preparing development of the MRT for Bundaran HI to Kampung Bandan.  The second phase is currently being prepared the Detail Engineering Design (DED) that will be built from Bundaran HI to Kampung Bandan. Jakarta government put targets to the end of this year could set the winning bidder of the second phase of the MRT construction.

President Director of PT MRT Jakarta, Dono Boestami, Sunday, May 5, 2013, said the cost of construction of the second phase of the MRT is still under discussion. Therefore, he continued, in agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), only listed for the first phase of development.

According to the plan, all MRT station and route for stage two is build on underground. The second phase of the MRT station number is made ​​up of seven stations namely, Sarinah, Monas, Harmony, Sawah Besar, Mangga Besar, Glodok, and Kampung Bandan. This second phase of the MRT is expected to be operational in 2018
