Basuki Purnama, Vice Governor Jakarta, said the technology will be applied by the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) is similar to the Commuter Train operated by PT KCJ, from the railways, cars, and technology.
Ahok said that the technology of MRT is not much different from the Commuter Line because Jakarta do not need a super fast MRT like in other countries. Additionally, using the same technology to Commuter Line, it would not necessary need depot and workshops developed specifically for maintenance or improvement of the MRT train.
Ahok also said by being able to borrow depot and workshop owned by PT KAI, the Jakarta administration is also planning to integrate MRT with Commuter Line, so that people have a lot of public transportation alternatives.
Government of Jakarta MRT officially launches the MRT project development on May 2, 2013 in Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI), Central Jakarta.
