Enjoying the Weekend at Jakarta Festival Museum Day

Every 18th May, the world celebrating the International Museum Day. The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established International Museum Day in 1977 to encourage public awareness of the role of museums in the development of society. The 2013 theme for International Museum Day is “Museums (Memory + Creativity) = Social Change”.

To commemorate the International Museum Day, Jakarta government established the Jakarta Festival Museum Day. Although the name for the festival is quite strange, but the show must go on. Located at the Fatahillah Park, around 45 museums in Jakarta from 53 museums took part with this festival. There is huge stage before the Jakarta History Museum for performing band and also the happening show: Standup Comedy. Around more than ten thousand people from around Jakarta gather in this Park. Some students also try to interview the foreign tourists


In this Festival you can learn how to coloring the textile using natural color or you can also made a puppet from young coconut leaf. The other also try to make a ceramics vas. There were also some people who act like a statues, you can took picture with them. Meanwhile, you could enjoy the performance of puppet show too.


Some people also took their kids to wear police uniform and took picture for free
