Hanggoro Budi Wiryawan, Director General of Traffic and Railways of the Ministry of Transportation said that the Ministry of Transportation will provide subsidies to all passengers of Commuter Line for Rp. 4000/passenger. The Ministry of Transportation is now requesting additional subsidy of Rp 387 billion to the Ministry of Finance. If approved, the subsidy could be given to PT KAI from July 1, 2013
Initially, the Ministry of Transportation will only subsidize certain groups, namely the poor. However, due to difficulties in terms of data collection, it was decided subsidy applied for all passengers.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia, through their spokesman Mateta Rizalulhaq, responded positively to the Ministry plan for adding allocation subsidies for commuter train. However, the Ministry requires that the electronic ticket must be completed to obtain subsidies.
