Jakarta Government in cooperation with PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) will complement the city parks and other green open space in Jakarta with free internet access facilities. There are at least 14 city parks that are targeted to be installed Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) equipment by PT Telkom.
This free internet facilities is relates to Jakarta Smart City program initiated by the Jakarta government. Vice Governor of Jakarta Tjahaja Basuki Purnama, Jakarta Smart City concept meant that Jakarta residents could work at home without spending a lot of time on the road. This will affect the traffic congestion in Jakarta. People will be less likely to come and go somewhere.
Currently the free internet access is to be enjoyed in the five city parks; Taman Langsat, Taman Suropati, Taman Ayodya, Taman Park Situ Lembang and Taman Menteng. The rest 9 city parks are still ongoing process of installation to have the internet access are Ragunan Campgrounds, Taman Cattelya, Lapangan Banteng, Monas, Taman Honda Tebet, Lapangan Jalan Merdeka, Taman Cipulir Permai, Taman Radio Dalam, and Taman Rembrandt
