Independence Palace in cooperation with Indonesian Military and BRI held a race can be followed by people in Jakarta and foreign tourists. The competition, named Independence Day Run, will be held on August 25, 2013 starting from Independence Palace.

The race is divided into 2 routes within the 17 Km and 8 Km. For the 17 km route, the race will start from Independence Palace and then to the south to Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Thamrin, Jalan Sudirman, Senayan passing through Semanggi and until Sisingamangaraja Street before returning by the same route.

As for the 8 km race will start from Independence Palace and then to the south to Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Thamrin, Jalan Sudirman, Semanggi past and back to the starting point.

The participants of this race will compete for a total prize of Rp. 1 M. The committee expects 45,000 race participants. Jakarta tourists and residents can sign up for free at the BRI website
