Sop Buntut Semoga: A Legendary Oxtail Soup from Hj. Nurjanah


Sop Buntut Cut Meutia is located near Cut Meutia Mosque on Jl. Menteng Kecil No 4, Central Jakarta. Although it is only a small restaurant, yet delicacy has been known since 1970. The late Hj. Nurjanah is the figure behind the success of this oxtail soup. Originally Hj. Nurjanah Padang was sell Padang food, including the oxtail soup, but the oxtail soup become the most enjoyed by the visitor, finally Hj. Nurjanah, decided to only sell this food.

Sop-Buntut-Semoga

The restaurant is narrow and simple. There are only 7 tables to serve the guests along with 7 the door to enter and exit. Restaurant crew is delivering food through the door because there was no aisle between tables. However, there is a wall of photographs from many artists, culinary experts, and expatriates i who’ve stopped by here.

The flesh is tender, soft and natural savory. The sauce is also had no excessive oil. It is truly a home-style cooking oxtail soup. In fact there is only a sprinkling of sliced ​​scallions and fried shallots alone in the soup. Without additional soy sauce and chili sauce, the taste of this oxtail soup is already yummy.

This small restaurant is always full with guests. Every day they present 200-300 servings. If you want to try another kind food, they are providing lamb and chicken satay and chicken.

From Sudirman go to platform 2 and take Yellow Line heading to Depok/Nambo/Bogor and stop at Manggarai and change to platform 3/5 and take the Blue Line/Red Line heading to Jakarta Kota then stop at Gondangdia and take a 2 minutes walk to the Southeast
