Jakarta Administration efforts to accommodate street vendors will be implemented soon. A Jakarta night market will be held every Saturday along Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan. The city government will officially launch the first night market on 5 October 2013 and it will involve 400 existing street vendors in the capital.

Acting Director of Cooperative Micro Small Medium Enterprises and Trade Agency, Andi Baso Mappapoleonro said around 100 culinary street vendors and 300 non culinary street vendors will be take part on the Night Market. According to Andi, after the opening the Night Market on 5th October, the Night Market will be conducted on a regular basis every Saturday night. Street vendors who participate in the night market will be replace with other street vendor every three month.

During the event, one side of Jl Medan Merdeka Selatan from Hero Monument to Husni Thamrin Monument, will be closed for vehicles from Saturday at 13.00 up to Sunday at 03.00. While the night market will be open to public from 17.00 to 23.00
