Museum Benteng Heritage: Chinese Museum in the Center of Traditional Market


Museum Benteng Heritage or Benteng Heritage Museum is founded by Mr Udaya Halim and his friends and officially launch at 11-11-2011. Museum Benteng Heritage is located on Jl. Cilame No 20, Tangerang. The building which occupied by the museum, estimated built in the mid 17th century and it is one of the oldest buildings in the Tangerang . Expected, this building was formerly used as an office of association.

In this museum you will find a lot of things behind the unique life history of the Chinese as well as various artifacts from the past, ranging from the arrival of Zheng He’s fleet with 300 large fleets and small junks carrying nearly 30,000 followers . The majority of this group led by Chen Ci Lung is believed to be the ancestors of Chinese residents in Tangerang which landed in Teluk Naga in 1407 .

You will see a variety of items related to the history of Chinese people in Indonesia such as some tools for smoking opium, mah jong game , hell bank notes , stamps , bunch of coins bantam, a compass to decide Feng Shui, abacus , measuring instruments , scales , and many more

The most interesting thing in the museum is the door leading to the balcony. The door is closed by using the old key system that once locked; it is difficult to open it from the inside of the house. From Juanda / Gondangdia / Cikini go to platform 2 and take the Red Line/Blue Line heading to Bekasi/Depok/Bogor and stop at Manggarai. Go to platform 2 and take the Yellow Line heading to Angke/Jatinegara and stop at Duri. Go to platform 3/4 heading to Tangerang and take 7 minute walks to southwest

From Tanah Abang go to platform 2 and take the Yellow Line heading to heading to Angke/Jatinegara and stop at Duri. Go to platform 3/4 heading to Tangerang and take 7 minute walks to southwest

From Sudirman go to platform 1 and take the Yellow Line heading to heading to Angke/Jatinegara and stop at Duri. Go to platform 3/4 heading to Tangerang and take 7 minute walks to southwest
