Ministry of Transportation urges PT KAI to complete the railways construction to SHIA from Tangerang. The ministry hopes that the project should be completed by the end of next year. Bambang Ervan, Director of Public Communication of the Ministry of Transportation said that the ministry is has prepare the double track railways from Tanah Abang to Tangerang. Thus, the railways from Tangerang to SHIA should be completed by the end of 2014.

According to the plan, Airport train from Jakarta is divided into two lines, Non Express Line that lies between Duri – Tangerang – Batu Ceper – SHIA that will cost Rp 23 trillion and will be operated by Commuter Line. While the express line – with elevated railways – from Manggarai through Pluit along 33.86 kilometer will be financed by the Public Private partnership scheme (PPP) with an estimated Rp 20 trillion. Express Line will be operated by PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur

Sugeng Priyono, Public Relation of PT KAI, admitted that the company is still in the bidding process. The construction of the Tangerang – SHIA will begin next year. The company is facing difficulties in land acquisition in the area of ​​Tangerang.

Meanwhile, the trains that will be used for the commuter line to SHIA, PT KAI are likely to use train car made by PT. INKA and Bombardier. They are currently still in the bidding process.
