Art 1: A Hidden Museum in Jakarta

Art: 1 New Museum and Art Space is the official name of the museum. Initially this museum is the Art Gallery Mon Decor founded by Martha Gunawan since 1983. The gallery is located in several places including Plaza Senayan, Wisma Mulia and Grand Indonesia Shopping Town

Because it requires a larger space to showcase the artwork, in 2011 the gallery opened the Art: 1 as a forum to show the work of artists and perform various other activities.

Art: 1 New Museum and Art Space consists of three floors, the new museum and the art space is only separated by sort of corridor at each floor. In terms of the shape of the room, the museum tends to give the impression of a conventional square, while the Art Space is oval and giving the impression of a contemporary feels.

New Museum has many diverse collections of paintings, sculpture and also installation art works. While at Art Space, you can find video art, installation, photography, and painting.
