SHIA – Halim Airport express train will be built in 2015. The construction process will take 4 years. In 2019, the airport express train fare is projected ranging from Rp 100,000 to Rp 150,000 per passenger.

The rates according to Budi Wiryawan Hanggoro, Director of Traffic and Railways, Ministry of Transportation, is still within reasonable limits for people who need comfort and speed. The rate for Airport express trains is projected to be higher than the SHIA CommuterLine which is opened in late 2015 by PT Kereta Api Indonesia.

In determining the train fare, the Ministry of Transportation will consider the ability and willingness to pay of potential users. The ministry will also need to have feedback from stakeholders.

Express train is not positioned as a competitor to the other mode of transportation in both airports today. The Airport express train is to provide options for the passengers as well as to anticipate with the 19% per year of the growth of passengers.
