Pempek or Fish Cake is one of my favorite foods. I can buy it from peddler or at the special Palembang food restaurant. But for me, in Jakarta, it is hard to find the taste that match to the original Pempek that sold in Palembang. The key in the cuko or vinegar sauce, that feels very different.

Since I had worked quite long in Kemayoran area, I knew that there is an area fills with Pempek Seller. It is at Jl. Garuda. On the right and the left side along the way, we can see a lot of Pempek seller. The story that I got from peoples the pempek in Jakarta was first sold at Jl. Garuda up today.

My favorite for Pempek seller at Jl. Garuda is the Unyil Restaurant in which the cuko is perfectly fit for me. The location of Pempek Unyil is not far from Kemayoran Station.

The price is start from Rp. 4500 for the small one Pempek up to Rp. 20.000 for the special Pempek. To me, the price is friendly enough. Unyil restaurant sells complete kind of pempek, you can find lenjer, kapal selam, pistel, tahu, lenggang, and also adaan. The cuko and the shrimp seasoning are put on the tables, you can pick them as much as you like.

If you might want to look another food, the restaurant also sells another menu such as pindang patin, tekwan, sate buntel, and otak-otak ikan. They also sell various ice based drink menu such as es kacang merah and es lidah buaya which became my favorite.

Maybethe well known storyabout the brotherhood of pempek selleris correct. Someday, I was at the Unyil and they ran out of Pempek, the seller look for another pempek at other restaurant 😀

From Juanda / Gondangdia / Cikini go to platform 2 and take the Red Line or Blue Line heading to Bekasi/Depok/Bogor and stop at Manggarai. Go to platform 5 then take the Yellow Line heading to Jatinegara and stop Kemayoran and take 4 minute walks to the East

From Tanah Abang/Sudirman go to platform 2 and take the Yellow Line heading to Jatinegara and stop Kemayoran and take 4 minute walks to the East
