PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), on Tuesday, 30/9/2014 announce the new tariff structure which will be implemented next year. The new rates are intended for economy class train service for far distances. This policy is taken in order to respond to the subsidy removal plan from the government. Subsidies are usually enjoyed for the remote train will be transferred to Local Railway and @CommuterLine
The government wanted the subsidies is more efficient for users of railway services. Bambang Eko Martono, Commercial Director of PT KAI, explains, this subsidy is needed by commuter trains and local trains passengers, because it is used in everyday activities.
In 2015, Ministry of Transportation prioritizes the public service obligation (PSO) budget for Rp1.5 trillion is used for the development of @CommuterLine. Related to this, the President Director of PT KAI, Ignasius Jonan, explained that the PSO will be more effective when distributed to local and @commuterline users, because the passenger of commuter train are workers or commuters with a massive amount of frequency.
