Today the construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Jakarta is begins and mark with the inauguration of groundbreaking in TMII. Earlier, President Jokowi has signed three Presidential Regulation related to the construction of the LRT.
Those three Presidential Regulation that contains the appointment of Adhi Karya to build facilities, the establishment of Greater Jakarta Transportation Authority, and the appointment of Jakarta enterprises in coordination with the Governor regarding inter-provincial LRT.
After construction of LRT Jakarta is completed, the central government through the Ministry of Transportation and the Jakarta government will buy LRT facilities and infrastructure that have been built, according to the fair value.

According to the plan, the LRT Jakarta will consist of 7 line that linking Kebayoran Lama – Kelapa Gading, Tanah Abang – Pulo Mas, Joglo – Tanah Abang, Puri Kembangan – Tanah Abang, Pesing – Kelapa Gading, Pesing – Soekarno Hatta Airport, and Cempaka Putih – Ancol.
The first construction will have two phases; the construction of phase IA, the LRT Jakarta will stretch from Cibubur-Cawang-Dukuh Atas along 24.2 kilometers (km). While the phase IB, the LRT Jakarta will stretch along the 17.9 km from Cawang to Bekasi Timur.
The total cost of the construction for phases IA and IB, outside the procurement of trains, reaching Rp 23.81 trillion. The project is targeted for completion by the end of 2017 or before the start of the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta.
