Presiden Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), Edi Sukmoro said that the completion of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (SHIA) railways is going to be completed in the first half of next year. He said that the project development process is still ongoing, including land acquisition.
SHIA Express Train will operate from Manggarai Station to Soekarno-Hatta Airport Station and passes Sudirman Baru Station, Duri station, and Batu Ceper station. Total distance traversed is along the 36.3 km that consists of 24.2 km of existing lines and 12.1 km of new lines
The train station is also connected with the automated people mover system (APMS) of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport station. This APMS will use LRT and equipped with automated guided transport (AGT) train. This system would use modern technology signal system wit communication-based train control (CBTC Driverless). The length of APMS railways is 2.98 km serving each terminal
The APMS will operate 3 trains set configuration with two cars with capacity of 2,100 passengers per hour per direction (pphpd). Thus, the passengers arriving by train can go straight up with LRT which is coming every four to five minutes. The APMS project has a contract value of around Rp531 billion and the project will be a pilot project for the implementation of APMS at other airports in Indonesia to facilitate the movement of passengers between terminals.
