The Indonesian Railways Company or PT KAI will make Jakarta Kota station as a point of departure for airport train from Jakarta Kota to Soekarno Hatta International Airport. The addition of the point of departure from Jakarta Kota station is expected to reduce the burden of congestion in Manggarai station. Currently, PT KAI is conducting a due diligence phase from Batu ceper Station to Jakarta Kota Station
Edi Sukmoro, President Director of PT admits there are still issues that need to be prepared in Jakarta Kota Station, such as vehicle parking area and a special platform for the airport train. Budi Noviantoro, Director of Logistics and Development of PT KAI, the development of the airport train will make several stations renovated to separate the commuter train (Commuter Line), inter city train, and the airport train.
The airport train itself will have a path along the 36.3 kilometers starting from Manggarai station. However, there are still a number of land acquisition problems that hamper the development of airport train. Currently PT KAI and PT AP II was speeding construction of the railway along the 12.1 kilometers to connect the station Batuceper in Tangerang to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
The operation of airport train will be conducted by PT Railink, which is a subsidiary of PT KAI and PT Angkasa Pura II. With an estimated rate fare of 100 thousand, passengers can reach the SHIA Airport with just 54 minutes and is integrated directly with Terminals 1, 2, and 3 of the SHIA.
According to the Heru Kuswanto, President Director of PT Railink, each train set is able to carry 274 passengers in one trip or 33 976 passengers in a single day. Later, the train set can be expanded to 10 cars.
