This monument was erected by people of Serpong to commemorate the battle between NICA Soldiers against the people of serpong on 26 May 1946. The battle against NICA happened during the day. People who fought the NICA Soldiers were not equipped with the complete arsenal and they were losing the battle.
This monument is equipped with a faded Red and White Flag to commemorate the battle in May 1946.
In the middle of the monument reads “Tugu Peringatan Proklamasi 17 Agustus 1945. Didirikan Djam 6 Petang. Tanggal 27 Desember 1949 (5 Maulud 1369). Rakjat Serpong”
This means
“Memorial Independence Day on 17 August 1945. Established on 18.00, 27 December 1949 (5 Maulud 1369). People of Serpong”. It is still written with the Old Bahasa Indonesia spelling
