President Joko Widodo is scheduled to inaugurate the operation of Soekarno Hatta International Airport (SHIA) Express Train on 2 January 2018. This was disclosed by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.

The total length of the airport railways is 36.3 km which consist of 24.2 km of existing tracks and the new track (Batu Ceper to SHIA Station) along 12.1 km. The Railink, operator of SHIA Express Train, will prepare 10 series of trains with each series consisting of six carriages with a total capacity of 272 passengers.

In the beginning of operation, the train will serve from Sudirman Baru to SHIA Station. Travel time for the route is at least 55 minutes. However, the route will be extended from Manggarai Station.
