Patung Arjuna Wijaya: an Artistic Statue


If you pass at the intersection of Jalan MH Thamrin and Jalan Medan Merdeka, you will see a horse statue. The statue was named as Arjuna Wijaya. This artistic statue depicts the figure of Arjuna who was riding on a horse-drawn carriage in the story of the Baratayudha. But because of its location close to the Indosat building, the statue often called as the Horse Statue is also sometimes referred to as Indosat Statue.

Statue of Arjuna Wijaya is based story of Baratayudha war which brought the Pandawa against the Kurawa. The statue itself depicts Arjuna and Batara Krishna who are riding a horse-drawn carriage. According to Nyoman Nuarta, this statue symbolizes that the law should be enforced indiscriminately. It was motivated by the story of a statue depicting the battle of Arjuna against Duke of Karna which in fact his own brother.

From Juanda go to platform 2 and take the Blue Line/Red Line heading to Bekasi/Depok/Bogor the stop at Gondangdia and take a 22 minutes walk to the Northwest

From Cikini go to platform 1 and take the Blue Line/Red Line heading to Jakarta Kota then stop at Gondangdia and take a 22 minutes walk to the Northwest

From Tanah Abang go to platform 3 and take Yellow Line heading to Depok/Nambo/Bogor and stop at Manggarai. Go to platform 3/5 and take the Blue Line/Red Line heading to Jakarta Kota then stop at Gondangdia and take a 22 minutes walk to the Northwest

From Sudirman go to platform 2 and take the Yellow Line heading to Depok/Nambo/Bogor and stop at Manggarai. Go to platform 3/5 and take the Blue Line/Red Line heading to Jakarta Kota then stop at Gondangdia and take a 22 minutes walk to the Northwest
